Now Hiring: Communications Coordinator (half-time)

The Communications Coordinator will support the Community Commons team in a variety of communications efforts across a number of communications channels. Community Commons is a collaborative initiative that exists to serve the healthy communities’ movement by helping change-makers advance equitable community health and well-being. For the last decade, IP3 has stewarded Community Commons by connecting those driving community change to the best tools, resources, data, and stories to support the work. Our audience is change-makers working to improve community health from a variety of vantage points, including public health, non-profits, community action agencies, health care systems, and more.
 

Communications Coordinator Duties

 

  • Create and develop written digital content

  • Edit content from other contributors and prepare (written, audio, and video) content to add to CommunityCommons.org

  • Craft and deliver social media content on various platforms

  • Source and manage digital images used on CommunityCommons.org, including resizing/editing as needed

  • Serve as project manager for the Community Commons bi-weekly newsletter (leverage MailChimp)

  • Curate resources for project deliverables and collections

  • Work with IP3 team to manage and add resources to the Community Commons infohub (back end database)

  • Lead recruitment and engagement with Community Commons network of contributing writers

  • Edit all outgoing communications as needed

  • Create content tracking reports as needed for project deliverables

  • Create a monthly website analytics report through Google analytics

 

Experience & Qualifications

 

  • Four-year degree in communications, or related field (graduate degree desirable)

  • Strong writing and editing skills, attention to detail

  • Familiarity and ease with social media, including Facebook and LinkedIn

  • Self-starter, able to work independently & collaboratively as part of a (remote) team

  • Ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and projects effectively and efficiently in a deadline-driven environment

  • Desire to learn about new subjects and technologies 

  • High fluency (and/or “quick study”) with digital communications tools: MailChimp, Google Workspace, Slack, website management platforms like WIX and SquareSpace 

  • Desire to work in a mission-driven environment

  • Experience working in public health and/or general knowledge about the field of public health and the “healthy communities movement” (preferred)

  • Videography and video editing experience (preferred) 

 

Commitment & Compensation


This position is a contract position with hourly compensation. The expected commitment is 20 hours per week, and there is potential for increased hours in the future. Hourly rate compensation is commensurate with experience. The anticipated start date for this position is flexible, but we are looking for someone to start this fall, and no later than mid-September.

 

The IP3 team is remote and uses virtual collaboration platforms including Zoom, Google Workspace, Slack and Basecamp. Team members are expected to telecommute for this position. This position will be supervised by IP3’s Director of Communications, with weekly check-ins and ongoing support.
