Strengthening the Backbone of Change in 2026

Updated: a few seconds ago

As we step into 2026, IP3 reflects on both the complexity of advancing equitable well-being and the hope, momentum, and meaningful progress we were honored to help build over the past year. The challenges communities face today are too complex and interconnected to be solved by any single organization—or even one sector. IP3 exists to bring people together, strengthening skills, relationships, and shared understanding to spark collective action and lasting change.

This year, we are leaning into our Institute identity by sharpening how we organize, deliver, and scale our mission. Through an integrated approach, we combine consulting and partnerships that advance learning-to-action; technology and software to explore data in context and manage shared knowledge; and systems-level work that supports networks and builds movements.

In 2026, we will continue to drive investment and action to advance the well-being of people, places, and the natural environment by strengthening the capacity of community stewards. We will lead with practical support by providing digital infrastructure tailored to networks and movements, creating and sharing content that builds learning and capacity, and catalyzing community assessment that drives equitable well-being across the nation. If you’re interested in meeting with our team to learn more about our work and/or discuss partnership opportunities, please don’t hesitate to reach out; we’d love to connect. Below, we share key highlights from the past year and preview priorities for 2026.

Movement Support through Knowledge Management & Learning

Knowledge management is the practice of capturing, organizing, and sharing knowledge so it can be effectively learned, used, and applied. Particularly in online environments, organizations, networks, and communities of practice need structured systems that make knowledge accessible and actionable. Community Commons Spaces support this work by providing customizable online content libraries powered by the Community Commons knowledge-base. This year, we partnered with organizations to curate and organize content that advances collaborative and network learning.

Launching the Contra Costa Together Network Space

IP3 partnered with the Contra Costa Regional Foundation and the Contra Costa Together Stewardship Team to create an online digital backbone for their network. Contra Costa Together needed a central hub to share its story, unify its members, and encourage broader participation. The new website, a Community Commons Space, establishes a visual identity for the collaborative and provides a welcoming, accessible space for partners and residents alike to learn about the network’s priorities and initiatives. The site catalyzes the network’s efforts through highlighting its mission and values, showcasing key initiatives, and promoting opportunities for deeper engagement. Learn More.

Data in Context

IP3 delivers data in context through software, knowledge products, and consulting services. Data in context integrates quantitative and qualitative information and examines it in relation to place, lived experience, and community systems. We prioritize people-centered, multi-solving approaches grounded in shared sense-making. Our work draws on publicly available data, organized into action-oriented frameworks and communicated through maps, visualizations, and community voices to strengthen access, understanding, and application. Recognizing that data alone is insufficient, we rely on community insight to interpret findings, surface opportunities, and drive collective action.

IP3 ASSESS

It has been another strong year for IP3 ASSESS, which continues to evolve through feedback from our user community. We were privileged to work with partners across the nation and launched several new features, including the ability to download raw data directly from the platform. See all recent feature updates here!

NEW! We Recently Launched IP3 ASSESS Focus

We are excited to introduce IP3 ASSESS Focus, a new feature that enhances how users analyze and compare data across geographies to prioritize impact. Building on IP3 ASSESS’s existing state and national benchmarking, IP3 ASSESS Focus enables deeper, customized analysis across multiple geographies. Users can define indicator sets, methodologies, and weightings to align with their organizational frameworks and goals, helping them more clearly identify where to direct investments, programs, and resources for the greatest impact.

Finally, the IP3 data team worked hard to update hundreds of measures across our data frameworks. This includes sourcing and processing indicators from over 100 sources and integrating them into IP3 ASSESS for you. Explore recent data updates. Interested in IP3 ASSESS and/or general data support?
